About the practice

Deborah Austin, OTR, CHT

Deborah is a registered occupational therapist and Certified Hand Therapist who has devoted her career to the hand, wrist and elbow. Fewer than a small fraction of occupational and physical therapists hold the CHT credential — it requires years of direct hand-therapy practice and a rigorous advanced examination.

Hand Rehabilitation Specialist, Inc. is a small hand clinic in Boca Raton built around client-centered care. Deborah treats her patients personally, in a quiet treatment space, with scheduling that leaves room to listen and adjust your plan as you heal.

How we work

One therapist, every visit

Continuity matters in hand therapy. The person who evaluated you is the person treating you and adjusting your orthosis.

Measured progress

Range of motion, grip and pinch strength are documented and shared with your referring physician.

Home program that fits

You leave with a written program built around your job, your hobbies and what your hand actually needs to do.

Your first visit

  1. 1

Download and complete the intake packet at home, and bring it with your photo ID, insurance card and physician referral or prescription.

  2. 2

Deborah performs a full hand and upper-extremity evaluation, including motion, strength, sensation and functional goals.

  3. 3

You begin treatment the same day — including orthotic fabrication when it's indicated — and leave with a home program.
